The first time was at his birth. This time it
wasn't planned at all.

The doctor told me to let the hospital check his
blood, as he has been sleeping and having fever
for two days, headache, stomachache, kind of
neck stiffness, pale and weak all the time. But
luckily they didn't found any clue of meningitis
or bacteria in his blood. 'Only' a viral infection.
We had to stay overnight though, as he got an
infusion. They said he was drying out. I didn't
realized that, as he drank more than usual during
those two days.

The first night was a nightmare. I'm not sure,
either it was the new surroundings or the fever.
He was awake again and again. Sometimes with
pain, sometimes as if he was sleepwalking. I
couldn't sleep, as I was too worried.

The next day he was getting better, so that the
doctor said, he could go home on Saturday. We
played a lot to kill the time: Scotland Yard. I've
told him, that it was my fave game as I was a kid,
a few days before. So he was excited, that they
have it there.

On Saturday we were all ready to go. After breakfast
I packed our stuff together and we waited for the
ward around. My son was also waiting for his dad,
as he promised to pick us up. While waiting he's
getting more and more tired. His temperature
went up again :( As the doctor came, it was over
39°C. He was so disappointed, but we had to spend
another night there.

The first half of the night was also very agitated,
but his temperature was going down. And today
finally he has quite a normal temperature again and
we may go home. He was over the moon, especially
cause he may go directly to his father, who would
otherwise first pick him up in the evening :)
I hope, he'll be totally okay soon. I've heard from
the mother of his friend, that all boys in his class
are sick except for one. Bad virus is going round
it seems.

The photos I've shown here are from a mural in
the hospital. It was on the corridor of the pediatric
clinic. So lovely! It spreads such a happy feeling to
the viewers. I wasn't everywhere in the hospital,
but this is the most beautiful part that I've seen.
Too bad I forgot to ask, who the painter was. But
I will do it next week.
