a lovely day

I whined about the dark and misty days, but when the
weather showed it's best side today I stayed at home!!
I worked on the torch - mixing colors, making some new
things for my rapidly-reduced-in-volume shop.

lovely day
Can you see the Alps on the horizon? Stunning view today!

And guess what.. there was a time, when I was organized!
I'm amazed :) I found the recipe of my carrot soup again,
which I then made for dinner today.

GINGER CARROT SOUP (for 2 persons)

3 carrots - peeled, thin sliced
2 potatoes - peeled, thin sliced
1/2 sweet sour apple (just because I was in the mood,
not in my original recipe :)) - peeled and sliced
-> put all in a pot, covered with water, let cook

and while they're cooking..
the green part of a leek (I had scallion today) - fine sliced
2cm (or less, just as you like) ginger - fine chopped
-> sauté both in a pan in bits of butter
-> put aside

1TS sunflower seeds (can be replaced with cashew nuts
or peanut or sesame for different tastes :))
-> roasted in a pan
-> put aside

..when the carrots etc. are soft, then
-> puree them using a hand mixer
-> add water (or orange juice), if needed
-> add honey (if you like), salt and creme fraiche
-> served it with the leek, ginger and sunflower seed

Guten Appetit! ^_^

When I was about to throw the organic waste away,
my hands were itching to do something with it.

She's looking sad, eh? Probably because she knew,
I'd throw her away right after I take the photo..

random things

Some random things I don't know how to combine in
a post, so...

1. I'm always amazed by tessellation origami (even
more amazed by the patience of the maker ;)), so I
wanted to try my hands on it. Well, I ended up with
a strange creature. But I think, I've learned some
facts about creasing.. so, maybe next time I will have
a tessellation origami ;)

2. Last year I thought I wouldn't need to go to the
hairdresser again for at least three years. But my
hair had split ends, that I finally let it cut yesterday.

before - after

3. Remember the butterfly, which found it's way to my
kitchen? I let it go after the photo shot. I'm not sure,
how this one came to the stairway. It has been there for
at least two weeks now. I didn't want to let it go outside,
cause it was wet, cold and windy (now I could if I would,
since it's warm again, but I'm not sure for how long..).

lost

Sometimes it was sitting on the curtain, sometimes on
the window sill and the last days it was on the floor.
But I wasn't sure either, how long it would survive in
here, since it doesn't get any food (does anybody know
about how long a peacock butterfly usually can live?
).

So, yesterday I decided to provide it with food. I bought
some oranges for us (my boy is having a cold) and put
a slice on a plastic cover for the butterfly (they always
serve orange and banana in the butterfly house). Using
a thin twig I managed to lift it from the floor to the
orange slice. I watched it for a little while. I couldn't see
it's proboscis, so I'm not sure, either it can eat or not
(and if it can't because it has lost it's proboscis e.g., am
I torturing it by serving the slice of orange?). I realize,
I know nearly nothing(!!) about butterflies...
Later in the evening it sat on the window frame. And
it still is this morning.
