a gallery visit

Constance has several museums and even more
galleries, but I only visit one quite regularly: the
Wessenberg gallery. They show mostly different
collections, which all related to Lake Constance
(and wider surroundings) or to Wessenberg. Not
only that, many of the rooms in the gallery are
also worth a closer look.





In the gallery itself there are two rooms, which belongs
to the local art club and they often shows interesting
modern works of international artists. At the moment
(till Sept 27th) they show the work of a young Chinese
artist Zhou Jinhua. I recommend you to go to his
exhibition, if you got the chance. I really love it. It's
one of the most gorgeous exhibition I've visited there
(I've visited it twice and am considering to go there
with my son, even though the theme is quite 'brutal'
for a kid...).

You can find it again on his painting on the wall (which
he has painted at the vernissage, the attendant has
told me).

I really enjoyed the time there. Art is food for soul!

I just read the weekly newsletter of TinyShowcase, which
reminded tonight's showcase with Owen Gatley. I, as per
usual, jumped right away to the artist's linked website.
I followed the link from his blog to see the video he recently
made. I really love it! And what amazed me even more
was the fact, that he made the music as well, cause the
music was just as amazing! Make sure, you watch it too!

Oh, I deleted my Twitter account this morning. Yep. I
wanted to do it a while ago, ever since some oddest kind
of people have followed me lately. I know, I could have
just blocked them. But I don't have (take) time to tweet
anyway, so I decided to simplify my life.
Bye, bye, Twitter!

quiet

It's been quiet in my blog lately. The 'normal' depression
before having my child-free weeks during holidays has
overcame me again, apart from other stress. Now I'm
having two weeks home alone. Time to do things which
were neglected the past months. I'm trying to organize
my ToDo list.



As usual, I of course forget things afterward, which I
thought 'it's logical - I would still understand/remember
that' while organizing *sigh* e.g. those abbreviation A
and P. I don't remember, what I wanted to say. What do
they mean? I have an Alzheimer disease already *one
more sigh*

BTW.. we can't keep up eating the zucchinis. They grow
so fast! The one on the left photo was our biggest one,
that I've turned into soup last week (we still have some
of it in the fridge). We've given some to friends and
yesterday I harvest those two on the right before they
getting even bigger.
Next year I'll only plant one or two plants. If we still
can eat zucchini after this abundance *lol*

friday's review

My son and I went pattern hunting again, as we walked
from one place to another. He slowly discovers the
wonderful moments taking a walk. He said, as long as
it's a walk with a destination, it doesn't matter ;)

The youngsters were having fun jumping down from
the bridge into the fresh water.


This was our destination: the silk road festival of the
children culture center. My son was there the whole
week and did some fun things. That evening we could
see the results. We could try plof, a national dish of
Kyrgyzstan. The kids could ride camels. The highlight
of the day was the Mongolian musician Epi, a kootschirr
player and overtone/undertone singer. Stunning!!! So
calming and inspiring. You can hear his music here and

abundance

Time is passing fast. Moments as well as moods are
changing from one to another so quickly. Bright moments,
when one feel so lucky like flying so high in the sky, can
change to the next, when the shadow brings some darkness.
All one can do is embrace them all. The next change is
already waiting to bring the bright moments back again.


How lucky I was today to be able to see the sunset and
the moonrise together with my son. Such beautiful
moments!!

hunting day

I've been collecting motives in my mind for weeks. And
yesterday I finally remembered to take my camera with
me. So, let's start the hunt ^_^


I started right away on the way to work. My eyes were
open for patterns (see that bit of my skirt? it's my fave
skirt, which my mother has brought me from Indonesia)
and anything that caught my interest (the right photo
was taken much later on the day).


On the house corridor of the shop the tenant (or somebody
else in the house) always put different vintage miniatures
in an ugly hole in the wall. Sweet :)


Later my son and I passed a house with a big tree in front
of it. From far I first thought, it was a big sunflower, but
it isn't. The leaves are huge! Almost twice as big as my
head. My son touched the stem and it felt oily. And look
at it - it has burst the tar of the pavement. Amazing! Does
any of you know, what plant it is? It's Paulownia tomentosa.
When it's young, it has very big leaves, but later it got
smaller ones (well, still up to 20cm). I've photographed
another Paulownia on another place 2 years ago. That's
where I found out the name - I asked a couple, who was
watching the tree :)


I'm loving murals on houses in general and this abstract
one is so special. Five curves are integrated in the mural.
Everything else are straight lines - short and long. That's
'jazzy' - my kind of art :) I wonder, who 'S' is...
edit: You might have seen this mural at my Flickr gallery.
Today I passed the house again and saw, that the mural
was also made by 'S'. Now I'm really curious :)
On the middle photo I like the purple touch on the window
shutters and door. The house on the right photo has caught
my eyes because of the wall. Somehow I like it, but somehow
I don't. I'm really confused *lol* I'd love to take a peek in
the house first before I decide ;)


We went home late today. We saw the sunset on our
way home. Yes, we are walking all the way home by
foot today! I'm so proud of my son, as he normally
doesn't like to walk for too long. He has learned counting
in Chinese this morning, so he tried to teach me on our
way :) As we almost got home, I've seen those perforated
leaves hanging so delicate - simply beautiful. Esp. in that
light!


My son has also made some photos. I really love his
impressions of the leaves and the full moon.

hope, fly and dream

Tuesday is almost over. It's time to announce the winner
of my guessing game. Thank you to all the participants!
So fun to read your guesses ^_^

But before I announce the winner, let me tell you the
story of the shards first.
The glass shards were a teapot before. We got a glass
teapot on our wedding. As the marriage broke apart,
my ex took the teapot with him. I bought a new one.
Somehow it has to be made of glass. I bought a cheap
one (it was similar like this one, but with a round pot
and a straight handle). After almost 5 years the plastic
ring, which hold the glass pot around it's neck, suddenly
broke. I was shocked - I was holding it, as I was about
to dry it!! I collected the shards to make something
out of them. And my new teapot? If you followed my
treasury addiction last winter, you might remember I
even made a teapot treasury. I was looking for one on
Etsy, but I couldn't find the right one or the ones I love
were out of my budget. So now my thrift store finds
are serving me as teapots. The mocha coffee pot is ideal
for me in the late evening - I got two cups of tea. The
coffee pot is great when I have many guests. It has even
a cozy to keep the tea warm.

I've turned the piece into a wearable artwork. I wanted
to make something inside the white ring, but I thought
it would be too much. But without, it doesn't feel complete.
So I decided to make a work on a small canvas, where
the dream catcher might rest if not in use as a necklace
(or window decoration or what ever the owner wish to ;))
and there it shows the words fly and hope, which can be
trapped by the ring.
This is what I'm trying to say with this piece:
Give your dreams wing(s) to fly. Never lose hope. Even
if you only have one fragile wing. Dream on, as dream
sometimes comes true.
It was a fun project, kind of finishing a puzzle :)

Working with polymer clay is not my thing, but sometimes
it's just practical. As for the two words I first wanted to
make them out of glass too, but lacking skill I didn't manage
to do it :/ Fimo did a good job here, even if it was not easy
for me (I admire even more polymer clay artists, like Leina
or Stéphanie). As my son saw it, he of course wanted to
play with Fimo too. He made a sword, an axt and a shield
for me :)

Fimo is involved in my next projects too (at least for
the moment - I'm looking for an alternative for an
eco friendlier material - maybe papier-mâché). I'm
drooling over Kokeshi dolls lately. Inspired by them,
I start to make my own dolls. The cotoneaster girl is
the first one of the series. So cute ^_^ What do you
think?

Made over 2 weeks ago, but forgot about it *sigh* I'm
getting old!


I'm going to donate 10% of my sales of some items to the
American Cancer Society in honor of Laura, who is fighting
against the ovarian cancer. I saw about this project
sometimes ago, but just got the time to read about it
carefully. Just search for "etsyprojectembrace" to find
more items for this good cause on Etsy.

a dream

Uiuiui... I just visited my shop stats and followed one
of the referring sites and from there I found a dream.

last day

.. to enter your right guess on my guessing game :)

It's almost ready to go to the winner (I hope, I don't
make any mistakes like the last time ;)). I just finished
making the last pieces and tonight I'll assembly them
to the final work together.



Normally I forget to take photos while I'm working, but
today while rolling the polymer clay I saw some lovely
images coming and disappearing, that I made a break
and took the photo. I'm glad I did. I'm liking the baking
paper on the baking pan as background for photos ^_^
