first sale

Aww... I really neglected my blog
after I make it public *sigh*

Many things happen meanwhile.
I've added 2 items to my shop.
I've sold one of them just on the next day
- my first sale yayy!! -
and sent the necklace to my customer.
I've signed the handmade pledge.

I'm planning to list some more items
on Sunday (hoping of a sunny Saturday
to take some photos).

going public

Hmm..
I kept my blog private up till now,
as I use it as a document only.
Also to practice my English ^_^

But as I'm going to list my trifiori items,
I think it would be nice
to let the shop visitors see behind the curtain.

New terrain - big insecurity!
Not knowing, if I'll still feel free to write then.
Not knowing, if it's interesting for others to read.
Not knowing, if anybody will read anyway.
Not knowing, if my poor English is comprehensible.
But without trying, I'll not know.

So, I've decided to make my blog public.
With all that fuzzy feelings.

trifiori necklace line - a background story

I had an idea of
having a jewelry for an every day use.
It should be playful, joyful and colorful
- good to match many clothing colors.
So, I made a bunch of flower glass beads
in many different colors,
as well as some leaf glass beads.

But as they're ready to be incorporated into jewelry
and lay all together side by side on the table,
I felt that something was wrong.
I didn't found them colorful at all,
even though they were variegated.
I was confused and somehow a bit frustrated.
How can I know if something colorful is,
but not knowing why??
I then made kind of a study about this,
to find out, what colorful means to me.
I know, there must be someone out there,
who has already made a study about this.
But as usual.. I just have to reinvent the wheel,
otherwise I won't get it.

I arranged one, two, three and four beads
and took photos of them.
With and without a green leaf.
I compared them on my computer,
separated them to colorful and not colorful
('love it' and 'dislike it').

Finally I came out with a conclusion, that
combinations of maximum three different colors
plus a green leaf seem colorful to me.
As soon as I've added another color onto it,
I found the combo distracting.
Another conclusion is that
green seem to give the other colors a base.

Now I make the trifiori using
up to 3 base colors for the flowers
and green for the leaf.
Plus another base color for the leather cord,
such as black or brown.
Even though they are quite earthy,
I think they pop.

I'm going to list some in my store in the next days.
Just need days again to write the descriptions ^_^

wire writing

I need a golden jewelry for a choir performance.
It should be big and eye-catchy,
e.g. altered golden Xmas decorations.
I've decided to make it myself
using brass wire.
On that way I can practice my wire work.

My son was impressed by the elements
I've made (just normal scroll work).
He started doing wire work himself.
He soon found out,
he can write words with the wire
(he's in the 2nd class
and still learning handwriting).

He started with "ele", "elle", then "ella".
Now he want to write "ella ist auf dem bauernhof"
(ella is on the farm).
He wanted to arrange it with syllabication.
so he cut "ella" into two pieces.
I was very excited about this -
an awesome idea to learn writing!

my first item!

I was so excited!
I finally finished editing my first item,
listed it after sitting on it for about a week
and forgot to document it here!!! *lol*



I was trembling, as I've just listed it *lol*
Being a perfectionist myself
it's not easy to give out something I'm not sure,
if everything is alright about it.
So, I started a thread in the forum -
asked somebody to help criticise my shop.

I've got many positive critiques -
which are very encouraging.
YadaYadaYada was very helpful and
make a revision of my description to copy and paste.
Thanks a lot!!! *big hug*
I just love being a part of Etsy!

I'm going to prepare my next items.

Today I've set up my shop policy in my profile.
I hope, I didn't forget anything.
I hope, it's a good weather tomorrow,
so that I can take pictures of some more items.
And I hope, I can end my listing on Sunday.

I've got to go to bed.
It's very late now.
But I'm satisfied, I've done this step.

registered

I've finally registered my business last Friday. Yayy!!
Busy taking photos and editing them.
Design business cards and arranging texts.
Hope to post the first items by the end of the week.

In additional I've got a phone call yesterday.
I can start a small job in a tiny, beautiful shop.
Within 'roses'.

sweet break

I was busy taking photos these two days.
I'm not sure, if they're good enough
for the shop (Oh yes, I'm a perfectionist!! *sigh*).
So, I need a break to get a distance
from that perfectionism
and taste this yummy cape gooseberries :-)

setting up my shop

I have always postponed it.
Today I've sign up a shop on Etsy.

I've chosen glasfaden as shop name.
That describes what I'm selling.
Glas means glass.
Faden means actually thread,
but it has something to do with fabric
- my felted items.
Glasfaden itself means glass stringer.

Next step is taken.

signs of fall #2: sycamore

I love sycamore.
There are many of them here.
But there's one
behind "our" bus station.
I pass it at least 4 days a week
and see, how it goes with the seasons.

home pet

I was wondering,
what's the name of those pets
I used to have as I was a child.
They live in snail shells,
but don't look like snails
rather than crabs.

So, I've googled and found them
hermit crabs!

I loved them - they're cute.
But I think, I didn't know,
how to treat them well,
as they died pretty fast :-(

signs of fall #1

A start of my 4 seasons study-series.



The fallen leaf came from a plant
with bright yellowish green leafs.
I don't know the name of it.
It is brugmansia :-)
It is planted in a big pink pot.
On summer it is brought outdoor.
It stands on the neighbor's house.
I wanted to make a photo of it lately,
but the light was bad.
Today the sun comes out.
But... the plant's gone!! Only
this one leaf was left on the ground.
Well, fall begins.
(Though it is getting warmer again..)



The hazel stands on the lot.
The kids have collected the hazelnuts,
cracked them using stones and
ate them. They had fun doing it.
I was fascinated by the form.
Look at that bizarre shadow.
Isn't it fascinating?
And I like to eat hazelnut :-)
